Whistleblower Complaints
FSA Policy 2.3.4 outlines our union’s whistleblowing process. The policy permits FSA members, contractors, staff, and individuals who interact with the normal business of the FSA to submit whistleblower complaints when they have a good faith suspicion of wrongdoing by an FSA Board member or employee.
Anonymous concerns may be reported through the Whistleblower Hotline, which is administered by The Tandem Team, an independent third-party provider retained by the FSA to support confidential disclosures.
Use the Whistleblower Hotline if you have concerns about the FSA that could cause significant harm to our union’s integrity or reputation related to:
- Financial misconduct
- Serious mismanagement
- Breaches of law
- Other serious ethical violations related to the operation of the FSA
Do not use the Whistleblower Hotline to express concerns for which reporting structures already exist. For example:
- Concerns about your manager not following the Collective Agreement
- Made to the FSA through our labour relations team
- Email [email protected]
- Concerns about high-level BCIT mismanagement
- See BCIT Policy 1100: Public Interest Disclosure and Protection (BCIT’s whistleblower policy)
- Concerns about workplace bullying and harassment
- Visit BCIT’s Respect, Diversity, and Inclusion Office (RDI)
- Concerns related to health and safety in your working environment
- Report to the appropriate Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) or BCIT’s Safety, Security & Emergency Management Office
- Concerns about treatment by an FSA employee
- Normally write the FSA’s Executive Director
