Assuring the success of students, faculty and staff is the highest priority for both BCIT and the BCIT Faculty and Staff Association.  Both Management and the Union believe that everyone must be able to step back and review how the work we do influences, affects, and supports those we are working with directly.

To provide that opportunity for reflection and improvement the Performance Development System (PDS) (Loop link – BCIT staff only) has been our means of capturing student and client experiences and offering feedback both for instructors and those working in service areas (ie: Library, ITS, Advisors, etc).  Like everything else we do, we have been reviewing the PDS to see how it can better meet our shared interest in fostering excellence.  A strategic plan was created by the PDS steering committee informed by the feedback received from the education and service areas. The strategic plan is more of a guide to inform of the main purpose of the PDS and the importance it has in ensuring the best student experience, with a high level of instructional quality and excellence in teaching and service at BCIT.

The Strategic Plan document may be viewed on the Loop (BCIT staff only).

To follow through with the execution of the PDS strategic plan, we are asking for faculty and staff to get involved in the FSA PDS Network Group.  Volunteers for this group will be asked to share their experience and ideas and to pass along information about the PDS to colleagues.  The purpose of the group is to spread information about the revitalization of the PDS and to get input into the tools currently being used and new opportunities that are being proposed.

The intent is to meet 3 times a year and possibly more depending on direction set by the group.  Some activity may happen between meetings depending on the interests of the participants.

The full document outlining the terms of reference for the Network Group may be viewed on the Loop (BCIT staff only).
