Training, Educating, and Activating Members
Member education is a core piece of the FSA’s strategic plan for good reason. Union education helps members empower one another to build a stronger FSA. In recognition of this fact, the FSA Board of Directors has committed to further expanding our Union’s external education possibilities by providing a number of resources to members to participate in training organized by affiliates like the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC). This is facilitated by our TEAM Program. The TEAM adjudication committee accepts applications throughout the year, meeting as need dictates. Subject to change, conditions of application include but are not limited to:
- Priority will be given to members who have shown interest in BCITFSA and Union program through volunteerism.
- Applicants must clearly outline the benefits to the applicant and the FSA.
- Approval may include full or partial funding for the activity.
- Members will be limited to one (1) approved application per fiscal year.
- It is generally preferable to fund attendance to various events, instead of multiple members at the same event.
- Priority will be given to activities that equalize opportunity across BCITFSA members and groups and align with the FSA Strategic Plan.
- Priority will be given to FSA affiliate’s programs or union-focused courses or programs.
- The intent of this program is not to leave FSA members or departments struggling due to member’s absence.
Current offerings will be advertised through the weekly eBulletin and listed on our events page. Please reach out to your Member Engagement Officer with any questions.
