Round 20, Bargaining Dispatch VI: Board Establishes Two Bargaining Subcommittees
May 23, 2025
At its May 21, 2025 meeting, the FSA Board of Directors established two new subcommittees to support collective bargaining: the Job Action Committee (JAC) and the Bargaining Communications Committee (BCC). These committees will focus on planning, member organizing, and communications.
The JAC will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating job action as directed by the FSA Board. Members interested in sitting on this committee should contact Member Engagement Officer Matt Greaves for more information.
The BCC will manage all communications related to bargaining during negotiations, job action, or a lockout. This includes messaging for FSA members, the public, BCIT staff, and students. Those interested in joining the BCC are encouraged to reach out to Matt as well.
Member engagement leading up to the onset of this round of negotiations has been outstanding—among the best we’ve seen in recent memory. With our recent affiliation with the CAUT Defence Fund, we are more prepared than ever to sit down at the bargaining table from a position of power.
