Welcome, Doug!

Today is Doug Thorpe-Dorward’s first day as Executive Director of the BCITFSA, and we couldn’t be more excited! Doug joins the FSA following an exhaustive national search for the best candidate to lead our Union.
Doug’s unique blend of experience in Canadian post-secondary institutions makes him a great fit for the FSA. Doug holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan and Juris Doctorate from UBC. He has worked in labour relations since finishing law school, including four Canadian post-secondary institutions over the past two decades. Having worked on both the labour and employer side of faculty relations provides Doug with a unique perspective on this work. Doug is a practicing lawyer in British Columbia.
Doug joins our FSA staff team of professionals focused on representation, negotiation, and advocacy for all FSA members. We look forward to Doug’s presence on the team and his introduction to our membership, affiliates, and the BCIT Community.
