Policy 5401 Resource Document

January 22, 2024

The FSA’s Policy 5401 Working Group, led by Vice President Shannon Kelly, has put together a Resource Guide for members and Departments wishing to respond to the employer’s proposed policy 5401 changes. As members will recall, BCIT is proposing a policy change to dramatically cut the minimum credit count for diplomas from 110 to 75 credits without consulting individual Departments about the feasibility or pedagogical soundness of these across-the-board cuts. The FSA believes Departments should be consulted individually and thoroughly before this policy change is finalized. The final day to submit comments to the Education Council (EdCo) is January 31, 2024.

There are dozens of ways that the FSA can help members improve conditions at BCIT and in the wider community Get Involved Please let us know how we can improve this site. We want to hear from you! Website Feedback
