Commemorating the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
December 6, 2022
Today is the 33rd anniversary of the École Polytechnique de Montréal massacre, in which 14 women were killed by a misogynistic gunman. We commemorate December sixth not only as a day of remembrance but one of action as well, in which we commit to preventing further violence against women. The FSA remembers:
- Geneviève Bergeron
- Hélène Colgan
- Nathalie Croteau
- Barbara Daigneault
- Anne-Marie Edward
- Maud Haviernick
- Maryse Laganière
- Maryse Leclair
- Anne-Marie Lemay
- Sonia Pelletier
- Michèle Richard
- Annie St-Arneault
- Annie Turcotte
- Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz
There are a number of ways to honour the victims of gender-based violence, including wearing a white ribbon, observing a moment of silence at 11am, and attending a vigil.
