CARAS University Partnerships Event

On March 7, 2024, the FSA’s Caucus on Applied Research and Advanced Studies (CARAS) held an event exploring how faculty have navigated the often difficult path of securing research funding through university partnerships. Hosted by FSA member Bonnie Johnston, Research Partnerships and BCIT saw four panelists (Eric Saczuk, Aaron Hunter, Mirela Gutica, and David Holloway) relate their experiences, as faculty members, securing external funding to conduct their research. While each researcher provided their unique background, some common themes nevertheless emerged. Principle among these themes was the reliance on existing or emerging research networks and the centrality of relationship building to the process.
