Affiliation Provides Opportunities to Get Involved

With our recent affiliation to the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) as well as our trial membership in the BC Federation of Labour comes the chance to get involved with committees at both the provincial and national level. CAUT also offers a series of awards that you can be nominated for – or nominate a colleague for!

BC Federation of Labour Standing Committees

The BCFED has a number of Standing Committees that advance the important work of the labour movement. These committees develop policies and programs that help shape the direction of the Federation. The FSA is entitled to appoint one member to each of the following committees:

CAUT Awards

CAUT seeks to recognize the work of members through a variety of awards. A full list of the awards can be found on their website – the deadlines for these vary throughout the year so be sure to take a moment to check them out and consider nominating someone (or asking a colleague to nominate you)!

Nominations are being regularly sought for election to the CAUT Executive Committee, namely:

Nominations of members of marginalized groups are encouraged, including but not limited to: Aboriginal peoples; women; racialized academic staff; academic staff with disabilities; and lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered and queer and two-spirited academic staff.
